It’s that time of year when many of us declare our New Year’s Resolutions, or set goals for the coming year. I stopped doing both a few years ago and have had much better results with setting Intentions.
What are Intentions? Well, unlike resolutions and goals, they are declared in way that they have already been achieved.
For example, instead of setting a goal to lose 20 lbs by the end of the year, write down the following: “I AM thrilled that I have lost 20 lbs of fat this year and love how I’m feeling so fit and healthy.”
The “I Am” part is important as Dr. Wayne Dyer and others have told us almost every spiritual text from every religion states that “I Am” means “God.” By using the words “I Am” you are invoking some powerful assistance in having your intentions happen for you.
By the way, you are also saying something very powerful when you say “I am tired” or “I am struggling financially, health-wise, with my relationships,” etc. I Am are two very powerful words so you may want to pay attention to what you say along with them.
I also put words in my intentions that evoke feeling. For example, one of my intentions for 2012 was “I Am thrilled when I see more and more money coming to me in an easy and consistent way. The rapid flow of large financial surprises is amazing and just tickles my heart, and I allow and accept this huge increase in my financial situation with tons and tons of gratitude!”
I don’t think it was an accident that this was my best year financially in my business. I expected it to be by setting this intention.
Your intentions should encompass every area of your life and they should be fun to write and fun to read. They should put a HUGE smile on your face when you read them. Because…….joy is one of the highest vibrating feelings we can evoke.
I write out my intentions and then post them in my office in a place where I can read them every day. I always get a big smile on my face when I read the “tickles my heart” phrase that I wrote. I visualize what it will feel like with my intentions having come true. Just for a few minutes. Then I go about my work for the day.
So, if you haven’t done this before, why don’t you try it. Play with this. Have fun with this. And expect 2013 to be the greatest year of your life — by FAR.
I absolutely feel that 2013 will be my best year ever, so far, and enter it with great excitement and some vastly amazing intentions that I expect, with great joy, will happen. Will you join me?
