Most of us have been trained to believe that you have to work hard to achieve success. This belief has been the undoing of many a business owner’s life.
Many marriages and other significant relationships in business owners’ lives have ended because the business owner, man or woman, bought into the belief that if they just worked harder their business would be more successful.
And while many of these business owners did achieve success, they often found, at the end of the day, they had no one to share that success with.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
I remember when I started my business in 2005 I felt a little lost. At that time I had been working as a Certified Financial Planner® professional for 17 years. I enjoyed the work immensely but I felt something was missing. The problem was I didn’t know what.
I was totally burned out from having worked in corporate settings for 25 years. I knew I wanted to write a book and enjoyed mentoring young financial planners but wasn’t sure I wanted to be a traditional financial planner for the rest of my life.
Fortunately, I had about a dozen amazing clients that wanted me to continue to manage their money. They were depending on me for their financial security and it didn’t feel right to abandon them. What a blessing that was. Almost all of them are still clients today and I still adore working with each of them.
But something felt off. I began running my business in a very similar way to how I had worked in corporate America. I really didn’t know any other way. It didn’t take long for me to figure out that I loved the work I did, and I loved my clients, but I didn’t like the environment I was creating for myself. It still felt like something was missing. I was working harder than I wanted to and still felt a little lost.
I had read a lot about living your purpose which encompassed using your divine gifts, but I just felt more and more frustrated as time went on not being able to identify those gifts much less utilize them.
I signed up for courses, attended conferences, networked with colleagues, but all to no avail — until I met a woman who was a fellow attendee at a business conference put on by my business coach (who also happened to be very spiritually gifted).
At this time I had been in business for 7 years, and my coach had helped me clarify and refine many things in my business. At one point he encouraged me to put more of ME in my business, and I remember telling him I didn’t know who ME was. I honestly felt like working in a corporate setting for so long had me conforming to what I thought a business woman like me was supposed to be like and I had very little awareness of who I really was.
I was very good at what I did but this one piece that was missing for me was causing me to work harder than I needed to, and kept me confused about my true purpose.
It was only when I discovered what my divine gifts were, thanks to the woman I met at that conference, that I felt I had the clarity and confidence to go forward in a direction that was finally aligning who I was with what I did.
The by-product of this knowledge was that my business grew in an easier and more congruent way, attracting more ideal clients, and allowing me to serve them in a much easier yet higher value way than I ever had before.
In 2011 I completed a five-year course of study and received a Bachelors Degree in Metaphysics. I have also taken additional training, part of which is to help others uncover their divine gifts. In the past year I have helped dozens of business owners discover their divine gifts, and through that knowledge they have found life much easier to navigate. They are clearer about the kind of work they want to do and are creating businesses that nurture them far more than they ever imagined was possible.
In the upcoming days I’m going to tell you about a way that you, too, can discover what your divine gifts are.
Wouldn’t it be great to know if you’re on the right path? To know what you are meant to do? To know what your purpose is?
Since leaving my corporate job of almost 11 years almost 3 months ago, I have been trying so hard to see exactly where I fit in and what my path is. After spending some time on the phone with Janet, my vision and direction of my business is crystal clear and I am more excited about where my future is headed than I ever have been in my life. I seriously can’t thank you enough, Janet.” — Rita Ester
If you want real clarity on what your divine gifts are and how you can best use those gifts to create a business that is highly successful, nurturing and fun, then stay tuned. I will have more to share on this soon!
